Shopping Small

It’s hard to believe, but Rachel and I have both spent our careers (since high school!) working for small businesses. Before I worked in a small retail store, I had no idea that all the merchandise was chosen and ordered by the owners. I think I expected things to just magically show up! It's funny how people ask me daily if The Wreath Stand is my store, to which I give an emphatic "no!" The amount of hours and hard work that Rachel puts in blows my mind. I am content to support her, cheer her on, and love on our customers!

This week, Rachel has headed to Atlanta on a mission to bring things back to the store that you will love. One of the best things about small businesses is that we know you, and that when Rachel shops for the store she is actually shopping for you! How cool is that?!?!

So what exactly will Rachel be buying this week? The answer… everything! In January, the primary things being ordered are for Fall & Christmas! (Christmas never really ends here at The Wreath Stand! We'll find sparkle on the floors til July!) It’s good to order now because the holiday season is fresh on our minds. We remember what you loved, the things you couldn’t seem to find anywhere, and the things you passed by.

Additionally, she’ll be looking for a few new things for the store now, things you have asked about, and any new trends that she didn’t pick up on her spring buying trip last July--this is my favorite because I hate waiting for new things that come months later! (If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to shop at market, check out our blog post from July 2021 answering all of your frequently asked questions.)

There's just something wonderful about walking into a store where they know your name, remember the things you like, stock the store just for you, and genuinely care about you. I have a handful of local stores that beckon my return for just those wonderful reasons. I continue to shop with them because I know what it’s like to work for a small business, and I want them to be successful! Let’s make 2022 the year where we shop small first.

Until next time,

Joy
