All The Holidays: Halloween

The countdown to Halloween is here. Do you buy candy ahead of time, eat it, and then have to buy more for the trick-or-treaters? Or do you wait 'til after Halloween and get the candy 90% off? I used to buy candy I didn't like, ie lolly pops, Tootsie Rolls, Skittles, so I wouldn't be tempted to eat them! It's just way too tempting to have all the M&M's and chocolate around!

In my mind, Halloween is the kick-off to the holiday season -- the beginning of a season filled with friends, family, and sweet memories. Do you have a fall "bucket list" or family traditions you just have to do each season? For me and Jay, it's s'mores & apple cider, watching our favorite (non-scary) Halloween movies, and hopefully a visit to an orchard or pumpkin patch.

And of course, decorating my home for the season is on my "must do" list every season. I heard this quote long ago, "Your home is the backdrop to your memories." How true that is! While people are the most important part of our memories, we can't overlook the importance of our homes. Even though it's usually just Jay and me at our house, I want our life to be full of celebrations, happiness and finding joy in the little things. So even if it's just a simple witches hat on the kitchen table or a ghost attachment on our tissue box, the little things really do make a difference in setting the mood for the season.

Halloween Pumpkins

How are you decorating your home for this season? Are you incorporating pumpkins into your bookshelves (like we did in our Fall into Pumpkins blog post), carving jack-o-lanterns, or filling your couch with all the cozy fall pillows?

Over the next few weeks, our blog will revolve around "All the Holidays." This week we're sharing inspiration for embracing Halloween, next week will be looking ahead to Thanksgiving, and we'll wrap up the series with a sneak peek of Christmas decor to get your wheels turning for the months ahead. So let's kick off the series with a little inspiration for the holiday that's just around the corner, Halloween!

Halloween Decorating Tips

 Tablescapes

We're big fans of all the treats around here! When you're setting your table this month, why not put a little happy on everyone's plate? Sometimes it's the sweet, little things that make the best memories.

Halloween Tablesetting

We love these Halloween themed sea salt caramel chocolates! Take them out and put one on each plate or gift the whole box for a special event.

Halloween Marshmallows

Or, open up a package of these individually wrapped Halloween marshmallows for each guest. These pumpkin marshmallows are so fun served with a hot cocoa or use the ghosts to make s'mores!

Shelf Decor

Halloween is the perfect time to bring a little whimsical fun into your decor. Nestle a little ghost in your bookshelf or add a witches' hat to your entertainment center. Or, if you're looking for something you can carry through all the way to Thanksgiving, we love our collection of black & white check pumpkins

Pillows & Pumpkins

Fall is the perfect season to swap out your pillows or add another pillow to your couch, bed or entryway bench. Pillows=cozy and cozy=everything you want for cooler weather! We love the little pop of whimsy that comes from our mini hooked Halloween pillows. Layer them anywhere you already have a pillow, or nestle them in a little basket together to create a cozy vignette.

Bonus!

And, a little bonus decor tip for this week! It's the season for trick-or-treaters. So, if you're like me, more people are coming to your front door than normal. Don't forget to add a little happy to your porch with a cute door hanger or maybe even a little DIY pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket garland.
